Real-time video compression system design and hardware implementation

摘要As the amount of the output for visible light CMOS camera is mounted, the transmission rate of the compression system is more and more concerned. For solving this problem we design a real-time video compression system based on the ADV212. First and foremost, the custom-specific mode is used for various video formats, considering the CMOS video format and the working principle of the ADV212. Through the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) internal random access memory (RAM) and synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) ping-pong operation, the data can be cached. The working efficiency is greatly improved. Secondly, this method could realize both the direct code stream transmission and the transmission after storage. And through the error correction coding, the correction ability of the flash memory is greatly improved. Lastly, to verify the method, the compression and de-compression circuit board are involved to specify the performance of the method. The results show that the compression system realizes real-time and stable operation, the system could achieve extremely high compression ratio by setting the software, and the average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is 28.238 dB and 26.165 dB when the compression ratio is 80:1 and 150:1, respectively.
